Magic Elves...straight from the North Pole!

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. Not because of the gifts, but because of the time we get to spend with Family and for the traditions that we are creating with out children. During the whole month of December we have special guest visitors from the North Pole. Watkins, Cane, Oliver, and Holly come to spend the month with us. They are magical elves that Santa lets come to stay with us. Several years ago we wrote Santa and asked for an elf to come. We had so much fun with Watkins, that we asked for another elf the next year. So Cane joined Watkins. Cane is a larger elf so he doesn't always get to come...sometimes Santa needs his help loading the sleigh and fixing machines. In 2008 Santa needed Cane to stay at the North Pole so he sent us Oliver instead. The neat thing about Oliver is that he has a twin sister Holly, who came last year so that Jaycee would have a girl elf to spend the holidays with. The elves are such a special part of our Christmas celebrations and we love having them around. They tend to be a little mischievous at times and sometimes they make a pretty big mess, but it is fun to wake up each morning and find them to see what they did while we were asleep.

The morning the elves arrived this year they surprised the boys with a pancake breakfast complete with Bacon and Chocolate Milk. The boys loved Holly's pancakes and were quick to inform me that I should get Holly's recipe.

Every Friday night we have a "Family Night" complete with pizza, movies, games, and junk food. The elves were apparently very excited about spending Family night with us,they brought popcorn and candy for us to enjoy during our movie.

We always enjoy our month with the elves and are always sad to see them leave on Christmas Eve. The kids talk about their adventures with the elves all year long.

  1. I love this! One of my friends here has elves come to visit them and I think they are going to start appearing at the Welch household next year!

  2. The are probably my FAVORITE Holiday tradition. We have had them visit for 4 years now. We love them!
