Beauty and the Beast Birthday Party

My daughter loves all things Disney princess....so we knew that we would have a princess themed party.  It was a little more challenging for her to narrow it down to which one she wanted for her party (and YES she changed her mind several times) but finally she decided that it would be a Beauty and the Beast party.  Since that is my favorite Disney movie, I was thrilled to have the chance to pull this party off!

Since it was a princess party, she thought that it would be fun to have the girls come dressed as their favorite princess and the boys were told that they could be pirates or knights.
My daughter dressed up as Belle last year as Belle, so we had her Belle dress (and hairstyle) already figured out.

Saige, her American Girl doll even came dressed up to the party

Our color scheme was taken from Belle's yellow dress and the rose.  Almost everything was either yellow or red in color.

The decorations were completed with Mrs. Potts and her tea cart.

She couldn't hardly wait for the party to start.  She sat by the window for a long time watching for the first guest to arrive.  (At least it gives a good view of her hair)

When the guests arrived they were greeted by a table of Beauty and the Beast themed foods...each was marked with a folded tent card label.

Cogsworth snack mix.

Iced sugar cookies in the shapes of crowns, dresses and roses.

Red Sixlets candy

Chip's Candy Crunch Mix

The Grey Stuff...it was delicious, don't believe me?

Ask the dishes!

We wanted a tiered cake and I wanted it to resemble the dress.  So I made a two tier cake with yellow fondant icing.  Then I took and made the little ropes to look like the gathered fabric.  The finishing touches were added with red roses and the Disney Characters around the cake.

A Beauty and the Beast party isn't complete without the enchanted rose.

The Beast and Belle guarded the gift table.

For activities we played Beauty and the Beast Bingo.  I found various clip art online, and designed cards for the game.  Then printed additional copies of the cards to have images to draw so that they would know what to cover.

We also did a craft.  The girls decorated crowns with jewel stickers

and the boys were able to decorate shields.

The favor were tied up in these red goody bags with a tag that read "Thank you for being my guest!"

Inside they found a tube or red and yellow gumballs, a Belle Squinkie ring, a princess Silly Band and a ring...the boys had racecars instead.

Each guest was also sent home with a homemade enchanted rose sucker.

This party was so much fun to put together and my little girl couldn't stop smiling the whole day.  We are already planning her 5th party and as sad as it makes me...it is NOT going to be a Disney themed one.  I will keep you guessing until December!

Teppan Edo

One of my favorite things about Epcot is the World Showcase.  I love that you can step into the culture of so many different countries in one day.  I also love the restaurants.  One of our favorites is Teppan Edo in Japan.  It is very similar to many Japanese Restaurants that you have probably been to before.  The food and the entertainment are both great.

Every seat at Teppan Edo is a great seat.  You are seated around the grill where the chefs cook traditional Japanese style food, with a Disney flare, right in front of you.  While the chefs cook your meal they are certain to entertain you with their creations and style.

The menu at Teppan Edo has assorted appetizers, starters, soups and salads.  Their entrees are a variety of dishes with steak, chicken, seafood, and vegetables serves with seasonal vegetables, Udon noodles and steamed rice.

Our chef entertained us with a smoking onion volcano...

We were celebrating my son's birthday while we were at Disney world and they brought him a paper chef hat and his dessert had a candle in it.

For dessert they offer chocolate ginger cake, green tea cheesecake, and soft served ice cream.

Teppan Edo is the restaurant that my boys ask to go to every time we are there.  We have not been back  in a couple of years and every time I tell them we didn't book it I receive very sad looks, so Teppan Edo will be on our list for our next Disney World vacation.

Magic Bands F.A.Q.

If you are looking into going to Disney World, then it is very likely that you have discovered MagicBands.  It is also equally as likely that you are confused about what MagicBands are, what they do, and what makes them so "MAGICAL".

The magic behind MagicBands begins in your My Disney Experience Account.  When I am working with a family, the first thing I have them do after I book their Disney World vacation is to create a My Disney Experience account.  This account is the key to unlocking the magic!

Once their account is created, I help them link in their reservation and get the planning started.  Dont' forget, that as soon as you create your account and link the reservation, you can customize your MagicBands by choosing the color and the name that you want printed on the inside of the bands.

In your My Disney Experience account, you can customize your MagicBands, book dining, buy tickets,  make fastpass+ selections, and even view photos from your Memory Maker during and after your vacation. You can also build your daily itinerary by adding reminders of things that you want to accomplish each day.  In essence it is planning central for your vacation.

°o° What are MagicBands? °o°

MagicBands are colorful, waterproof wristbands.  About 30 days before your vacation, Disney will mail your MagicBands to you..unless you book after that time and then you will pick them up at check in.  This is important to keep in mind...if you want to choose your colors, book early.

°o° What can I do with my MagicBand? °o°

MagicBands  make everything at Disney World so much easier.  Simply touch your MagicBand to the Mickey touch points that you will find around the Walt Disney World Resort and magic happens.  Your MagicBand can be used to:

  • Unlock the door to your room at a Disney Resort hotel.
  • Enter the theme parks and water parks (with the purchase of tickets)
  • Check in at FastPass+ entrances

  • Connect Disney PhotoPass images to your account

  • Use your dining credits for table service, quick service and snacks.
  • Charge food and merchandise purchases to you Disney Resort hotel room.
  • To access your Magical Express transportation to the resort from the airport.

°o° Are MagicBands are one size fit all? °o°

MagicBands should fit most wrists.  The outside gray portion can tear off to make them fit smaller arms.   Every member of your party who have tickets will get a band (even infants on resort packages).  A lot of parents will choose to carry the band for infants since they most likely would chew on them or risk losing them.

°o° Can I customize my MagicBand? °o°

Yes, Disney sells various fobs, covers, and jewels that you can use to show your Disney Side on your magic band.  You can find these at the resort gift shop and many other stores throughout the parks.

I have also seen numerous ideas on Pinterest of how people have made them even more unique.  I would ere on the side of caution when decorating them.  You do not want to do anything to them that could cause them not to scan.  Just remember that the Mickey head needs to be tapped at the touch points!  If you decorate your MagicBand, I would LOVE to see what you do!!

°o° Do you have more MagicBand Questions? °o°

If you have a MagicBand question, just ask below in a comment and I will answer them as they are posted.
